Tell us your story, win Ring of Fates!

FFCC: Ring of Fates coverThat’s right, here’s your chance to tell us about your best/favorite/most memorable Final Fantasy experience and nab yourself a copy of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates for the DS. We have six copies to give away for the best tales of adventure and daring, so think back to the good times you’ve had and share ‘em with us! Let it be known that we did not say your story needed to be true.

Winners will be selected from the submitted comments on April 1. That’s only a few days away so get to writing!

UPDATE: Winners have been selected and are being notified. Thanks to everyone who entered!

Man, time flies

We’re in the midst of finishing issue 3 in a hurry because I’m going to Japan for a little while in early April and one of our other editors (who I am too prudent to name here) is getting himself married around the same time. I wish him the best of luck explaining to his newlywed wife why he has to bring home stacks of DVDs from work all the time.

What am I doing in Japan? Nothing too fancy, actually — my parents have finally decided to go visit there, and so I’ve volunteered to guide them around. I’ll hardly have any time for real nerd stuff, but I’ll try my best to pry myself away from family and go buy some “boy-love” magazines or somesuch. That’s exactly what a 6-foot-8 American man should be buying in Tokyo, right?

Design characters for a good cause

In our first issue, you might have noticed a news story in our Peek section about Speedsters and an upcoming contest for artists to create a set of characters. Well, that contest is now running full-throttle over at deviantART, so be sure to check it out and send in something.

It’s part of the program created by the 1 in 8 Foundation to raise awareness on early detection of breast cancer among teenagers and young adults, so you know it’s for a good cause. Plus, who knows, you might win some handy prizes, including a subscription to dA’s premium features!
